Fluence, the global market-leading energy storage technology company, is looking for a Grid Code Compliance Engineer in the EMEA region. This position is within the Global Product and Technology team, focusing on Grid Code Compliance aspects of Fluence Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), particularly the major components of the inverters and the Fluence plant control system.

We are seeking a Grid Code Compliance Engineer (m/f/d), full-time with an unlimited contract, based in Berlin or Erlangen within a hybrid working model.

Your Responsibilities:

• Work with stakeholders (internal, customer, consultant, regulatory) to ensure end-to-end grid connection achievement, including meetings and progress reports.
• Support grid modeling studies performed by third parties for BESS system grid connections, including troubleshooting and technical support.
• Conduct preliminary modeling and assessments for connection requirements in EMEA, Asia-Pacific (AEMO), and prepare project-specific documents.
• Leverage expertise on the interaction between BESS power converter systems and the utility/grid under various system events and conditions.
• Assist technical teams in maintaining and updating proprietary PPC and OEM dynamic models.
• Conduct feasibility and locational studies using dynamic and grid models.
• Help shape future grid controls through model-based development of Fluence’s power plant controller.
• Support modeling activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Your Skills:

• Experience managing consultants and designers across multiple projects, preferably with tier-one companies.
• Experience in reviewing grid connection compliance design.
• Master's Degree in electrical engineering focusing on power systems or renewable energy, or 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and control simulation tools (PSSE, PowerFactory, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB Simulink, PSLF) and automation with Python scripting.
• Knowledge of utility grid interconnection standards (UL/IEEE, ISO/RTO, European grid codes, AEMO).
• Ability to work under high pressure and in grid connection projects such as UK/Ireland, Australia.
