The Department of Cultural Studies at TU Dortmund University is seeking a Professor in Linguistics of German to lead research and teaching in grammar and language didactics. The Department of Cultural Studies at TU Dortmund University is offering the following position, starting at the earliest possible date:
TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments across natural sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. It is a dynamic institution renowned for research, teaching, promoting young scientists, and transfer.
The appointee will represent the field of Linguistics of German: Grammar and Language Didactics in research, developing this area with (inter-)national visibility. Responsibilities include participating in research networks and collaborations within and outside TU Dortmund University, and promoting early career researchers. Teaching duties encompass various aspects of German linguistics and relevant degree programs, including teacher training and applied linguistics.
Applicants should have a doctorate with above-average success, a post-doctoral qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent, and research expertise in German grammar, functional approaches, and empirical methods. Experience with German language didactics and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed venues are essential. Experience in acquiring third-party funding, teaching excellence, social and leadership skills, and willingness to participate in academic self-administration are also required. The appointment must meet the criteria outlined in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act.
