Jobbeschreibung

At Liberis, we are on a mission to unleash the power of small businesses worldwide by providing the financial products they need to grow through a network of global partners.

At its core, Liberis is a technology-driven company bridging the gap between finance and small businesses. We utilize data and insights to help partners understand their customers' real-time needs and employ technology to offer tailored financial products. Empowering small businesses to grow while maintaining their independence is central to our vision.

Since 2007, Liberis has funded over 40,000 small businesses with more than $1.5 billion, but we believe there is much more to accomplish. Learn more about Liberis by visiting our website.

Our commitment to integrity and compliance underpins everything we do. As we expand, we are seeking a Compliance Officer to join our Compliance team, focusing on all EU geographies with a key emphasis on Germany.

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Compliance Officer eager to support our business by ensuring the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Given our rapid growth, our compliance team needs to evolve its frameworks, controls, policies, and culture.

If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, creating rather than just following, and thinking laterally about structuring a compliance framework to support fast international growth, this could be your ideal role!

What you'll be doing

  1. Oversee compliance in the DACH and Nordic regions, as well as some Eastern European countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland).
  2. Liaise with Liberis' external AML Officer and DPO in Germany, assist with policy updates, and oversee annual compliance audits.
  3. Coordinate with relevant authorities (e.g., BaFin, IHK) and external legal counsel.
  4. Support audits of our German entities and work closely with the Finance team to resolve findings.
  5. Monitor EU regulatory developments, especially in Germany, affecting Liberis' business.
  6. Prepare bilingual shareholder resolutions for German entities and facilitate monthly management meetings, ensuring overall corporate compliance for EU entities.
  7. Review marketing materials, websites, and customer journeys to ensure regulatory compliance, including necessary disclaimers and consent declarations.
  8. Assist with compliance committee and board reporting.
  9. Collaborate with the wider compliance team on audits and remedial actions for EU entities.
  10. Work with internal teams and external stakeholders, promoting a culture of compliance and transparent communication.
  11. Support partnership engagements and serve as the go-to compliance and regulatory contact for existing partners in the DACH region.
  12. Lead training initiatives across EU markets to enhance staff awareness of compliance, financial crime risks, AML obligations, and the importance of compliance, tailored to individual roles.

What we think you'll need

  1. Approximately 3 years of proven experience in compliance within the financial sector or a regulated industry.
  2. Native German speaker and fluent in English (C1); additional Nordic, Czech, Slovak, or Polish language skills are advantageous.
  3. Preferably a degree in law (FH) or having passed the 1. Staatsexamen, or a degree focusing on corporate governance, risk management, compliance, regulation, internal audit, finance, or accounting.
  4. Relevant professional qualifications such as ICA or other recognized compliance certifications are highly beneficial.
