About the opportunity

You will join the Lending & Savings Segment in the Financial Empowerment Domain. Timing-wise, you are joining at a pivotal moment during which we are redefining our strategy to achieve scale and grow revenue in line with our growing global footprint. We are seeking a talented Lead Engineer to join our expanding teams and evolve our product, powered by a microservice architecture predominantly written in Java 8 and Kotlin, using Spring Boot. Our cross-functional teams are passionate about collaboration, sharing knowledge, and working with a high degree of autonomy.

As a Lead Engineer at N26, you will be encouraged to embrace the latest technological updates and work on complex, interesting problems daily.

  1. Take technical leadership and ownership of back-end product development as part of the global customer experience team.
  2. Build architectures and write code to meet user needs, from idea through development to operations.
  3. Mentor and coach back-end engineers, fostering a DevSecOps culture and pragmatic engineering attitude.
  4. Drive the team's agile build-it-ship-it mentality by delivering large-scale consumer products.
  5. Lead back-end development initiatives and make all necessary technical decisions to progress quickly.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in building digital products using Java and/or Kotlin.
  • Experience designing and developing complex systems for continuous deployment in a cloud environment.
  • Experience leading developers, mentoring tech teams, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with and enjoyment of working in Agile setups (e.g., Scrum, CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud).
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills.
