Description

As our new Senior R&D Structural Engineer, you will join our Global Multi-Physic Simulation (GLOMUS) network team in the Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key people with specific expertise in the fields of electrical, structural, acoustic, thermo-mechanic, and fluid-dynamics analyses, simulation, and testing.

For this role, we follow a hybrid work structure where you can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences.

Your responsibilities

  1. Finite Element simulation of structures subject to all types of static and dynamic loads (fatigue, shock, short-circuit, seismic, lifting, etc.)
  2. Development of new automations for the structural, thermomechanical, and acoustic assessment of products
  3. Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their expected performances
  4. Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products
  5. Lead product and technology development in the field of Dry, Traction, and Oil Distribution Transformers, delivering results on time and on budget at the agreed scope and quality
  6. Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings, and collaborating with the design tools team
  7. Provide technical support to other departments when needed (engineering, product management, marketing, and sales, etc.)

Your background

  1. PhD / MSc education in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering field
  2. Several years of relevant work experience in Mechanical Engineering
  3. Advanced knowledge of structures subject to seismic, fatigue, shock, and thermal loads
  4. Experience in finite element analysis and in the use of ANSYS Workbench suite
  5. Knowledge of programming languages: MATLAB, Visual Basic, Python
  6. Solid bases in vibrational fatigue and structures dynamics
  7. Project management skills with an action and results-oriented mindset, coupled with innovative, out-of-the-box thinking
  8. Excellent communication skills in English, a robust team spirit, and willingness to travel
