About the Role

As a member of the Global Purchasing Organization, you will assist in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies according to goals and objectives and commodity roadmaps defined by the Global Commodity Director in conjunction with the Regional Commodity Lead. You will be responsible for sourcing, supplier negotiations, and managing the supply base for a segment or group of suppliers, adhering to purchasing policies, ethics, safety, and environmental rules.

We are seeking a Strategic Commodity Buyer, EU (Plastics) (m/w/x) to join our Global Purchasing Team in Europe as soon as possible.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop successful purchasing strategies
  • Define bidder lists, conduct supplier negotiations, and recommend suppliers for new business awards
  • Identify and implement cost savings through negotiations, sourcing, VA/VE, or new technologies
  • Support divisions during supplier escalations and coordinate activities between suppliers and divisions
  • Evaluate potential new suppliers
  • Develop target costing (OEM RFQ) for plastic parts in coordination with the Purchasing team
  • Identify and promote improvements in purchasing processes
  • Maintain updated reports on key KPIs and data
  • Conduct benchmarks and negotiations aligned with commodity strategy and divisions
  • Train divisional buyers on commodity basics
Who We Are Looking For
  • 3-5 years' experience in purchasing, preferably in automotive or manufacturing environments, with a focus on plastics
  • Experience with plastics and preferably resins; please specify commodities handled in your CV
  • Proven success in strategic and operational purchasing of direct and indirect materials
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~20%)
  • Advanced Excel skills are appreciated
  • Leadership and motivation skills for managing divisional buyers
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting to top management
  • Self-driven with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Positive attitude and ability to remain calm in challenging situations
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline
