There is a professorship (W2) in Computer Science (d/m/w), with specialisation in Robot Manipulation in the Computer Science department at the Sankt Augustin campus available as soon as possible.

The contract is permanent.

Your responsibilities:

• Provide courses in Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Computer Science, Business Informatics, and especially in the international Master’s programme “Autonomous Systems” in English and German, depending on the programme.
• Carry out research and development projects, source and manage third-party-funded projects, and participate in science transfer.
• Support domestic, international, and interdisciplinary collaboration with academic, business, and societal institutions.
• Engage actively in the university’s system of academic autonomy.
• Contribute to implementing the University Development Plan, especially regarding sustainability targets.
• Participate in establishing and developing study programmes, primarily in Autonomous Systems.
• Supervise PhD students, e.g., via the PhD programme of the Graduate Institute of NRW.
• Contribute to activities and development of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems (A2S) and the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (b-it).
• Initiate, acquire, and manage research activities, including third-party funding, especially in motion planning, robot manipulation, and human-robot collaboration.
• Mentor student teams for robotics competitions.

The role offers opportunities to incorporate your interests into research and teaching.

What we expect:

• Meet employment requirements in Section 36 of the NRW Hochschulgesetz, including a relevant academic degree and PhD, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience, including 3 outside academia.
• Be prepared to teach in English.
• Help develop study programmes and introduce digital teaching formats.
• Consider gender, diversity, and sustainability as quality criteria.
• Have extensive knowledge in at least two fields such as Robot Learning, Motion Planning, Robot Control, etc.
• Have relevant experience in robotics application domains like Healthcare, Smart Cities, etc.
• Have hands-on experience programming robotic systems.
• Experience in research collaboration and supervising students is desirable.
