At the University of Bremen, in Faculty 3 in the working group "Digital Transformation of Public Services" (Prof. Dr. Dr. Niehaves) and at the "GovTech Graduate School" as part of the BMBF-funded research project "ProcurDat", a position as Research Assistant (f/m/d) is available as soon as possible.

• Salary group 13 TV-L - in the field of "Government Technology & Artificial Intelligence" full-time (39.2 working hours) and limited to 3 years. The fixed term is for scientific qualification in accordance with 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz). Accordingly, only applicants who still have the relevant qualification periods in accordance with Section 2 (1) WissZeitVG can be considered.
• From 2024, the GovTech Graduate School at the University of Bremen will offer a unique doctoral program in Germany dedicated to the research and development of digital innovations for the public sector. As part of this initiative, a challenging position is offered in the working group "Digital Transformation of Public Services" under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. Björn Niehaves. This position offers the opportunity to become an active member of the interdisciplinary and application-oriented GovTech Graduate School and to work in a dynamic and inspiring environment. The environment combines scientific research with practical expertise, creating optimal conditions for a successful and structured doctorate.

Your tasks:

• Collaboration in the research projects of the working group
• Participation in platform development
• Implementation of data and AI-based processes
• Participation in quantitative and qualitative studies
• Participation in third-party funding applications
• Research on AI methods in the field of automated data processing
• Regular publication of research results and preparation of a doctorate
• Teaching within the scope of the applicable LVNV, teaching export (= subject-specific teaching for other teaching units)

Your profile:

• Knowledge of AI and digital technologies: Initial experience with AI and digital solutions. Knowledge in the context of public procurement is advantageous.
• Programming and IT skills: Experience in programming with Python. Knowledge of the Linux environment, especially bash, and basic knowledge of web hosting are advantageous.
• Analytical and research skills: Skills in performing analysis, preparation and evaluation of data.
• Data conversion and management: Skills in processing and standardizing different types of data.

Requirements:

• Completed scientific university degree (Master's degree, university diploma) in computer science, business or administrative informatics or related subjects.
• Applicants who are in the final phase of their Master's degree will also be considered. Please note that a Master's degree certificate is mandatory for employment.
• Initial knowledge of programming with Python.
• Initial experience with machine learning methods and ideally knowledge of SQL is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of German and English.
• Willingness and ability to familiarize yourself quickly and comprehensively with new contexts.
