Division Lead Additive Manufacturing Processes (Post-doc, m/f/d)

The Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP) connects the domains of 4D Materials and additive technologies (M), sustainable energy systems (E), and biomanufacturing and process engineering (P) as an interdisciplinary research network. Additive manufacturing plays a pivotal role as an enabling technology within this framework.

We are building a new alliance between TUM and leading additive manufacturing (AM) enterprises. We seek a highly motivated researcher in the field of AM processes who can work independently, establish industrial networks, and contribute creatively to collaborative teams.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Additive Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology, Material Science, Physics, or comparable fields
• Proven experience in additive manufacturing processes is mandatory
• Several years of professional experience in industry are strongly recommended
• Post-doctoral experience is favorable
• Determination, independence, teamwork, and communication skills
• Proficiency in German and English

Responsibilities

• Building an institutional AM alliance between TUM and industry as part of a motivated team
• Conducting independent research in process automation, process control integration, online monitoring, and real-time prediction, with the goal of leading a research group of doctoral students
• Securing third-party funding, especially through cooperation with ministries, industry, and funding agencies
• Teaching and developing courses related to additive manufacturing
• Engaging with industry networks, academic partners, and policymakers
