Job Description

We're seeking an experienced software engineer to lead infrastructure efforts at secunet's Software Factory.

Location: Any secunet Location
Travel: Occasional travel required

The Software Factory is secunet's innovation program, dedicated to developing new product classes through cutting-edge, security-focused shared components and a DevSecOps platform supporting the entire product lifecycle. This dynamic team offers exciting challenges and growth opportunities.

This role involves both software and systems engineering to build and maintain IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include monitoring system capacity and performance, ensuring reliability and uptime, and focusing on automation to improve efficiency.

Technologies we use

• Nix, as the core technology integrating our software
• NixOS as our operating system
• Rust as the primary programming language
• Terraform, OpenTelemetry, Grafana LGTM stack, GitLab, OpenStack

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, extend, and improve our infrastructure
• Ensure comprehensive observability across services (visualization, alerting, log aggregation)
• Design and manage Nix build infrastructure
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners
• Align with secunet's internal IT strategy
• Document infrastructure and development work
• Ensure security of services using modern technologies

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Expertise in architecting and operating on-premises deployments
• Extensive experience with the NixOS ecosystem
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Contributions to open source projects
• Programming experience in Rust, Python, Go, or similar languages
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within the Software Factory

• Familiarity with the German language is advantageous but not mandatory
