Job Description:

EU Sustainability Engineering team is looking for a Sr Electrical Engineer to scale programs within the wider Amazon electrification transformation.

Core initiatives include the electrification of last mile and middle mile fleet and implementing technologies to maximize energy efficiency of our buildings. This involves expanding one of the largest private charging networks in the world and defining innovative electrical designs to enable smart grid strategies.

Location options for this role are: Munich, London.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Align and set stakeholder expectations for installing electrical infrastructure for EV charging networks and/or smart grids.
  2. Collaborate with stakeholders to drive energy efficiency roadmaps and install IoT technologies like smart meters.
  3. Develop and manage vendors to ensure installation capacity, quality, and safety compliance.
  4. Own standards for electrical equipment technologies.
  5. Validate designs to ensure compliance with electrical standards during installation.
  6. Support Field Engineering in on-site installation preparations.
  7. Prepare business cases and present to leadership for program scoping.
A day in the life

Your day may involve engaging with various organizational levels and stakeholder groups to make decisions impacting Amazon's transportation network. You will work with Operations, Process Improvement, Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors to design and deploy new equipment and processes.

About the team

EU Sustainability Engineering defines and improves electrical standards for EV charging and smart grid solutions, ensuring design reliability and cost efficiency. The team collaborates closely with other teams such as Global Fleet, Field Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to optimize resources and improve products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Master’s Degree (or higher) in electrical engineering.
  • Experience leading programs in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial activities including budgeting large-scale expansions.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and analyze data for decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Excel, reporting tools, databases, and cloud computing.
  • Proficiency in English; German is a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience in electrical engineering programs, procurement, and maintenance contracting.
  • Experience in resource planning for large programs.
  • Knowledge of the electrical and energy sector in Europe and globally.
  • Experience with EV charging industry and Smart Grid technology.
