At NERA, you will apply economic principles learned at university to provide clear and credible expert analysis impacting decisions by clients, judges, juries, and regulators.

NERA serves clients from over 25 offices across Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.

In the Competition Economics team, you will work on high-profile cases involving economic analysis to assess market behavior, quantify damages, or support merger reviews before authorities like the European Commission.

Your typical tasks will include:

  • Conducting literature and data research
  • Applying economic theory and econometrics to case facts
  • Cleaning, managing, analyzing data, and interpreting results for non-technical audiences
  • Assisting in drafting reports, memoranda, and presentations
  • Contributing to the team’s intellectual capital

Additional responsibilities may involve supporting senior staff in managing projects, clients, and team members.

This position is suitable if you:

  • Hold an excellent master’s degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, or related fields (Research Officer)
  • Have at least two years of relevant experience or a PhD (Economic Analyst)
  • Possess excellent English and Italian communication skills; German is a plus
  • Can work under tight deadlines and enjoy problem-solving
  • Are familiar with data analysis tools like Stata, R, Python, or MATLAB
  • Have specialization in applied microeconomics, industrial organization, competition economics, or econometrics
