Charging needs to be simple and easy to use; therefore, we focus on digitized and customer-oriented services. We develop white-label public charging solutions for automotive OEMs and fleet operators. These services provide access to multiple networks of Charge Point Operators (CPO) and enable drivers of electric vehicles to find, use, and pay for public charging seamlessly. Since 2019, Digital Charging Solutions GmbH has been part of the mobility joint venture between BMW Group and Daimler AG. CHARGE NOW is a service of DCS and part of this joint venture, aiming to promote sustainable mobility together with FREE NOW.

Engineering Manager (f/m/d)

Location: Rosenstraße 18-19, 10178, Berlin | Full Time | With Professional Experience | 4/7/25

As our Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing talent—guiding career paths, evaluating and promoting team members, establishing best practices, and standardizing workflows along the software development lifecycle. You will help build a strong engineering culture, manage growth, ensure system scalability, and maintain high quality, particularly in IoT and FinTech areas.

Your mission

1. Be responsible for inspiring and growing the software engineering team
2. Develop people and teams through coaching, mentoring, and feedback
3. Work with recruiting to attract, onboard, and retain talent
4. Collaborate with Value Teams, product owners, architects, agile coaches, and stakeholders to deliver world-class software solutions in E-Mobility
5. Promote modern software development practices to increase efficiency
6. Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
7. Be hands-on and ready to contribute to code when needed

Your profile

• Experienced in leading, coaching, and mentoring software development teams with a focus on high-quality, stable software
• Passionate about developing and growing people
• Knowledgeable about software engineering practices
• Solid experience in agile development environments
• Up-to-date with latest technologies, languages, frameworks, and practices
• At least 8 years of backend development experience and 6 years of leadership experience
• Excellent skills in Java/Kotlin with Spring Framework (Spring Boot)
• Knowledge of Quarkus.io is a plus
• Strong understanding of web technologies (REST, XML, JSON)
• Confident in relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience with cloud providers like Azure
• Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless functions (Azure Functions)
