Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Manager to lead the operations of a high-volume automotive metal stamping and fabrication facility. This leadership role holds full responsibility for plant performance across production, maintenance, engineering, quality, supply chain, EHS, and all supporting functions, with a strong focus on efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have a deep background in metal stamping, forming, welding, and assembly processes, as well as experience working with major automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. This is a strategic role for a results-oriented leader with proven success in driving operational excellence and cultural transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership for the plant, ensuring operational goals for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale (SQDCM) are consistently met or exceeded
- Full P&L responsibility for the site, driving profitability, productivity, and cost control initiatives
- Oversee complex metal processing operations, including progressive stamping, transfer presses, robotic welding, machining, surface treatment, and final assembly
- Ensure all products are manufactured to the highest quality standards and comply with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement
- Direct and support new product launches, tooling projects, and capital investment initiatives
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies across all operations
- Maintain close communication with OEM customers and internal stakeholders to align on delivery schedules, technical specifications, and program milestones
- Drive EHS compliance and best practices in health and safety, ensuring a safe and legally compliant workplace
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze trends, and implement corrective actions to drive performance improvement
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior plant leadership role
- Strong background in metal stamping and fabrication processes, including experience with transfer presses, progressive dies, and robotic automation
- Solid knowledge of Lean tools, value stream mapping, OEE, SMED, and TPM
- Proven track record of delivering operational improvements, cost reductions, and KPI growth
- Experience in program launch management, including capital equipment installation, tooling integration, and ramp-up
- Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to lead large teams in union or non-union environments
- Fluent in English; additional languages (e.g., Spanish, German, Polish) are advantageous
- Open to relocation or regular travel depending on site location
