The position is within Aerostack GmbH, a Joint Venture between Airbus and an automotive company, part of Airbus's strategy to accelerate Zero Emission Aircraft development and build competencies in the technology domain.
We are seeking to support our team in Taufkirchen/Ottobrunn with a vacancy for a Prototype Manager (d/f/m) at Aerostack GmbH.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead the planning and setup of a prototype shop and its integration into an Airbus site.
- Select and hire staff for the prototype shop according to the overall planning.
- Lead the prototype team in preparing activities.
- Manage the contribution of the prototype team to development and certification activities in collaboration with the design department.
- Create and release working instructions for the prototype shop, such as control plans, prototype reports, and testing reports.
- Schedule prototype orders.
- Organize and complete fixtures/jigs, tooling, or outsourced manufacturing.
- Oversee the financial and scheduling aspects of prototype assembly.
- Manage sample quality information, technical notes, technical improvements, and communicate these within the team.
- Analyze abnormalities during assembly in collaboration with experts, define remedial measures, and coordinate their implementation.
- Initiate procurement processes in purchasing and logistics.
- Determine external suppliers in collaboration with purchasing.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a similar field, with several years of professional experience including solid product and process knowledge.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an industrial environment.
- Proven project management experience and application of project management tools.
- Experience in metal forming, metal cutting, stamping, welding, and related processes.
- Experience in plastics processing.
- Proficiency with Office applications and CAD software (CATIA).
- Independent working style, strong organizational skills, and personal commitment.
- Strong team and communication skills, flexibility.
- Self-motivated with a team-oriented spirit.
- Awareness of quality policies and objectives.
- Fluent in English and German; additional French skills are advantageous.
- Availability for frequent travel between Taufkirchen and Dettingen/Erms locations.
