Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Own the data architecture principles;
• Co-own and lead the data strategy;
• Co-own the enterprise data model at the conceptual level;
• Own the enterprise data model at the logical level;
• Consult and oversee solution architects on the physical level;
• Lead as the Data Governor, including quality, security, privacy, GDPR.

Qualifications

Required key competencies and qualifications:

• Ability to communicate the value of data at all levels and actively shape how Metro handles data now and in the future;
• Strong communication skills to connect people from different business units and roles;
• Ability to work conceptually and communicate the impact of data architecture work;
• Define and foster data architecture principles;
• Contribute to creating, implementing, and maintaining an enterprise data model;
• Think and communicate the big picture for data, linking it to individual solutions;
• Drive collaboration with technical architects on enterprise and solution levels;
• Engage with business process architects;
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data engineering and architecture;
• At least 3 years in roles such as Enterprise Data Architect or leading large data transformation projects;
• Interest in business processes and challenges, experience in wholesale/retail is a plus;
• Experience coding data pipelines or applications and knowledge of software delivery lifecycle;
• Deep knowledge of data processing technologies;
• Profound understanding of database technologies: Relational, NoSQL, Data Lake;
• Good knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS);
• Consulting mindset, proactive support for projects;
• Ability to guide and influence others, and promote data topics internally;
• Skills in data modeling, governance, and implementing them in large organizations;
• Methodology skills for engaging with business and data teams;
• Knowledge of integrating AI/ML into business processes and data management roles;
• Understanding of GDPR and data privacy regulations;
• Willingness to represent Metro.digital at external conferences;
• Interest in hiring and mentoring data professionals;
• Familiarity with agile delivery across teams and locations.
