Your Role

We are looking for an experienced optical designer to join our cinematography lens development team. Your work will include advanced optical design of rotationally symmetric and anamorphic lenses, tolerancing and tuning designs for manufacturability together with lens suppliers. Additionally, your work will create new business opportunities for ZEISS digital products in the VFX industry by providing lens data and supporting virtual prototyping and image simulation. You will build a network within ZEISS and with external partners to leverage technological advances, maintain brand leadership in cine lenses and VFX industry.

Your Profile

• A PhD or master’s degree in physics, mathematics, or optical engineering with proven experience in the optical industry.
• Strong knowledge of physical and technical optics.
• Familiarity with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Optics Studio, Code V) and experience designing complex polychromatic lenses, including multiple lens elements and aspheres.
• Creative vision and practical skills to bring ideas to life in ZEISS cinematography products, along with strong communication skills in English.
• Proven expertise in Python or Matlab to support VFX industry products.
