Job Description:

credium is seeking a Geospatial Engineer to join our startup team. You will play a key role in the development of our geospatial data products by designing, developing, and maintaining our ETL pipelines, ensuring data quality throughout the data life cycle. You will work closely with other data engineers, software engineers, and data scientists to ensure data accuracy and completeness, and to meet customer needs.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on responsibility, enjoys tackling both big-picture architecture and detailed data challenges, and values continuous learning and self-development.

Responsibilities:

  • You design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data ingestion and transformation pipelines, processing large-scale open geospatial data.
  • You ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across various platforms and systems.
  • You create data model, data mapping, and data lineage documentation.
  • You create geodata insights and reports.
  • You transform raw geodata into features that enhance our products, not shying away from complex algorithms and calculations.
  • You collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data meets their needs.

Qualifications:

  • Don’t worry if you don’t fulfill all criteria. Everyone’s got a focus.
  • You hold a degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or related field or comparable working experience.
  • You have proven professional experience with large-scale geospatial data.
  • You have strong Python skills (pandas, numpy, geopandas, gdal, shapely, rasterio, and other relevant libraries).
  • You are familiar with GIS tools (such as QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.) for advanced mapping and spatial analysis.
  • You have solid RDBMS skills and experience with database management (PostgreSQL/Oracle/MSSQL) and geospatial extensions (e.g., PostGIS).
  • You have a strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to tackle both high-level design and detailed data issues.
  • You can document and explain complex technical concepts effectively.
  • You possess strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

(Bonus) You have professional experience with Cloud Data Infrastructure, ideally Azure.

(Bonus) You are experienced in transforming data in PySpark for handling large datasets and transforming geospatial data using Sedona.

(Bonus) Experience working in a startup environment.

We offer a competitive salary as well as the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced and exciting startup environment. If you are passionate about data engineering and want to make a real impact, we want to hear from you!

Please apply with your CV and cover letter.

Benefits of working with credium:

  • You gain unique experience working in a venture-capital-backed AI company.
  • You will get a competitive salary and flexible working settings (working hours, home office, all-remote possible, etc.).
  • Newly renovated office in the heart of Augsburg with an indoor garden, coffee-flat, and ergonomically designed workplaces (e.g., height-adjustable desks).
