Located in Luxembourg, we are a service company that hosts Europe's single leading trading platform (e-CAT) for cross-border transmission capacity. On behalf of TSOs, we auction the available long and short-term transmission capacity rights on all internal EU borders.

On the 1st of October 2018, JAO became the Single Allocation Platform (SAP) for all European Transmission System Operators (TSOs), capable of implementing and fulfilling all regulatory obligations and requirements. We provide accounting (clearing and settlement), contracting, reporting, and project support services.

About the job :

We're seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a permanent role to support the company's overall controlling tasks.

This person will report to the Head of Financial Controlling and Accounting and will work closely with senior team members.

The Financial Controller will collaborate with other departments to support their daily cost management, monitoring, forecasting, and budgeting activities. A strong command of English is essential.

Key activities in the position :
  • Verify and validate all of the company's accounting entries and handle controlling activities.
  • Manage financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
  • Ensure the Finance Department has the systems, policies, procedures, and controls in place to support effective operations and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Work closely with other departments on cost management, monitoring, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Understand the company's conduct standards, risk assessments, control activities, information flow, and monitoring relevant to objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver timely financial reports, annual accounts, treasury reports, and forecasts.
  • Assist with budgeting and fee structure processes.
  • Coordinate closing procedures with the Accounting department.
  • Verify and authenticate bookkeeping entries from a Financial Controlling perspective.
  • Advise on VAT, tax, and regulatory financial matters.
  • Verify and confirm Balance Sheet reconciliations and provide recommendations.
  • Verify and confirm intracompany reconciliation processes with TSOs.
  • Draft Financial Controlling policies and procedures.
  • Review data from time tracking tools and make recommendations.
  • Support ongoing projects and suggest system improvements.
  • Coordinate and support external audit requests.
Candidate requirements :
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent audit skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in controlling, accounting, or audit.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with financial statements under LuxGaap.
  • Experience with SAP-FI / CO is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong listening, empathy, and communication skills.
  • Structured, efficient work approach.
  • Attention to detail and high-quality work output.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
