Job Description:

We are looking for a (Senior) Technical Marketing Engineer (1-year contract) to start immediately as part of our Marketing Tech Team in Berlin.

The mission of the MarTech team at Babbel is to maintain and improve the Babbel marketing tech stack, enable all marketing teams to integrate with partner solutions, launch, manage, and optimize campaigns efficiently, ensure data fidelity & compliance, and facilitate communication and synergies across offices and departments.

You will:
  • Be an active member of the cross-functional MarTech team, which includes an Engineer Manager, a Product Manager, Backend and Fullstack Engineers, and Technical Marketing Engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing teams, Partners/Publishers, and potentially Data Analysts to understand business/campaign needs and technical requirements for planning, monitoring, and improving integrations.
  • Serve as an interface between Marketing, Partners/Publishers, and Software Engineers to manage the tech infrastructure and implement server-side integrations.
  • Own tech implementations and configurations on client-side platforms (e.g., Google Tag Manager) and partner platforms (e.g., Adjust, Tealium).
  • Support and educate Marketing teams on the marketing tech stack, including tools like Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and Adjust.
  • Configure and validate tracking in compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, CNIL, LGPD, etc.).
  • Contribute to report interpretation and optimization opportunities through tracking implementation knowledge.
  • Define practices to automate workflows in collaboration with Marketing Managers, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements or features.
  • Assist in implementing new tracking tools and attribution models, adhering to data protection standards.
  • Optionally contribute to server-side implementation/development based on motivation and skills.
You have:
  • At least 2 years of experience developing tracking solutions for Websites and Apps, including third-party service integrations via client-side, server-to-server, and APIs.
  • Deep knowledge of client-side and server-side tracking with Tag Management Systems (GTM and Tealium).
  • Over 2 years of experience in a customer/partner-facing role within Marketing or Technical teams.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools like Google Analytics (legacy and GA4), Adjust, Adverity, or similar.
  • Experience with Consent & Privacy Management systems such as OneTrust.
  • A good understanding of marketing and online user behavior analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and troubleshooting experience in campaign performance and report discrepancies.
You are:
  • Motivated to continuously learn in Tech/Engineering and Marketing fields.
  • Innovative, eager to improve tracking, APIs, and marketing automation.
  • Excellent communicator with a proactive stakeholder management approach.
  • Effective project and time manager, capable of handling multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously.
  • Fluent in English for an international work environment.
Nice to have:
  • Experience as a Technical Solution Engineer or similar in AdTech/MarTech.
  • Background as a Backend / FullStack Software Engineer.
  • Experience as a Data Analyst / Engineer.
  • Knowledge of Event-driven architecture and deeplink tracking.
