About the Role: Organizations worldwide rely on New Relic to enhance their software using data. Our Logs platform is crucial for understanding systems by analyzing petabytes of log data through our Log Streaming services. We seek an experienced engineer to improve ingestion and processing experiences for New Relic Logs.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and enhance core features of our Log streaming Java services and APIs, using cutting-edge tech for scalable solutions.
• Improve reliability, security, cost efficiency, and quality of the backend Logging platform.
• Manage the cloud infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment.
• Increase team efficiency through automation.
• Mentor other engineers to achieve technical excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, efficient systems.
• Work with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Stay updated with industry trends and innovate solutions.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure platform stability.
• Promote continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in Java and/or Go, with a strong CS background.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale software systems.
• Knowledge of cloud resources and technologies like Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry.
• Ability to mentor engineers and ensure high-quality code.
• Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Passion for exploring new technologies and solving complex problems.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, serverless, Kafka.

Bonus Points

• Experience with real-time data streaming and processing services.
• Experience with high throughput pipelines and distributed systems.
• Experience in observability SaaS products.
