Job Opportunity: Battery Management System (BMS) Software Functions Development Engineer
Italdesign Deutschland GmbH is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic BMS Software Functions Development Engineer for our EE E-Traction Team based in Ingolstadt / Gaimersheim. The successful candidate will be responsible for HV Batteries System Software integration, application, and calibration at the project level.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of HV Batteries System BMS Software at the project level.
- Steer BMS Software suppliers.
- Update BMS functional specifications and requirements.
- Coordinate BMS software functional contents with the HV Battery development team.
- Manage BMS software release processes according to project milestones.
- Implement BMS software modifications to improve performance, comply with new regulations, or adapt to boundary conditions.
- Manage BMS data according to project needs, including data structure maintenance.
- Ensure BMS release validation, including software bundle, HiL, or vehicle testing activities.
- Conduct BMS software application and calibration activities on vehicles.
- Represent responsibilities in internal and external meetings.
- Handle project scheduling, management, and issue tracking.
- Interface with stakeholders, departments, and suppliers.
- Report to management and customers.
- Analyze performance and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams.
- Achieve technical objectives within the field of responsibility.
- Manage escalation processes with proposed solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in Automotive Electric & Electronics SW functions and components development.
- Minimum 3 years of experience specifically in Battery Management System SW functions and components.
- Good knowledge of Automotive OEM processes.
- Experience in Function Development and Application.
- Understanding customer requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and resilient attitude.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of vehicle software architecture.
- Experience with HiL testing and validation.
- Knowledge in error analysis for vehicles.
- Understanding of Functional Safety and Cyber Security, ISO26262.
- Strong experience in supplier management.
- Proficiency with tools like MATLAB/Simulink, CAPL, Vector tools, Requirements & SysML tools, Jira.
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- Fluent in German and English; Italian language skills are a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work at the Gaimersheim site.
