Team / division overview

The DWS Alternatives business is a diversified set of activities with approximately EUR 130bn assets under management, including Private Real Estate, Private Infrastructure, Private Credit, Liquid Real Assets, and Sustainable Investments. The global team invests on behalf of a diverse client base, including governments, corporations, institutional investors, and UHNW individuals.

Private Credit is a key growth pillar of the EUR 115bn DWS Alternatives franchise. It aims to build diversified portfolios across various credit strategies, delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns focused on capital preservation for a broad spectrum of investors.

As part of the Corporate Credit/Direct Lending Strategy, you will leverage your expertise in corporate credit portfolio management to provide tailored investment solutions in Germany/Europe.

Role Details

As an Investment Manager for Corporate Credit/Direct Lending (m/f/d), you will:

1. Work closely with Deutsche Bank's Direct Lending origination team, conducting detailed financial analysis of cash flows, financial statements, and ratios to assess transaction structures and creditworthiness.
2. Evaluate credit risks considering industry trends, market conditions, and operating environments of potential borrowers.
3. Perform detailed due diligence on potential borrowers, reviewing legal documents and contracts impacting credit decisions.
4. Develop and utilize financial models to simulate scenarios, assess risks, and project future borrower performance.
5. Jointly prepare and present investment committee memorandums.
6. Conduct valuation analyses and monitor investments and sector trends to ensure alignment with client needs and objectives, providing customized investment options when necessary.
7. Uphold fiduciary responsibilities, including communication, performance reporting, and handling ad hoc requests.
8. Engage in investment discussions and stay informed on investment committee and CIO office views.
9. Establish and maintain a long-term performance record for managed products and accounts.

Qualifications

We are looking for:

• Proven experience in Private Credit, especially in Direct Lending and corporate underwriting, gained at credit funds, banks, hedge funds, or mezzanine funds.
• Experience with Venture debt and restructuring is advantageous.
• Strong technical analysis skills, including detailed due diligence and financial modeling of private credit opportunities.
• Experience with Investment Committees and preparing supporting materials.
• Ability to manage risk controls effectively within an investment environment, with a focus on fiduciary duty.
• Effective communication skills with external clients.
• Degree in Finance or related discipline from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience.
• Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken).
