YOUR TEAM

The aim of our PhD Program is to promote innovative topics relevant to CARIAD. We cooperate with top universities to bring new research projects to life. Our PhD candidates have the opportunity to create innovations for CARIAD and their scientific fields. All projects are supervised by a professor and a dedicated CARIAD mentor. Candidates benefit from development programs and a strong academic exchange within our internal PhD network.

Our pre-development department

Develops an AI-based software stack for automated driving, focusing on perception, prediction, and planning. We draft concepts, prototype, improve, and deploy solutions onto vehicles for real-world testing, integrating research into our daily work while allowing research freedom.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Develop innovative deep learning solutions for automated driving
2. Utilize foundation models like visual-language models to address complex urban driving challenges
3. Extend end-to-end automated driving architectures with your ideas based on state-of-the-art AI techniques
4. Collaborate with a team of experts to develop concepts and solutions
5. Transform ideas into code and demonstrate their effectiveness in prototype vehicles
6. Publish results in high-quality conferences and journals

WHO YOU ARE

1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Cybernetics, Mathematics, or equivalent
2. Strong knowledge in robotics and deep learning with excellent academic performance
3. Proficient in Python and/or C++ programming
4. Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, or Caffe is advantageous
5. Excellent English skills, both oral and written; experience in scientific writing is a plus
6. Hands-on project experience from studies, work, or internships
7. High commitment, initiative, teamwork, and an independent, goal-oriented work style
8. Experience with cloud programming and CI/CD frameworks is a bonus
