Zusammenfassung

Die Universität Kassel sucht einen Doktoranden (m/w/d) für die Fakultät für Ökologischen Landbau, um die Auswirkungen baum-basierter Landwirtschaft auf Ökosystemdienstleistungen zu untersuchen. Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, Part-time, temporary

(currently 26 hours per week)

This is a part-time position with 65% of full-time hours. It is a fixed-term position until 30.09.2029, pending funding approval, in accordance with 2 Abs. 2 WissZeitVG.

FOR5903 is a DFG Research Unit with interdisciplinary and international scope, focusing on global urbanization processes under the framework of “Sustainable Rurbanity”. The doctoral position addresses “Effects of tree-based agriculture on ecosystem services in a rurban environment”. The main workplace is Witzenhausen, with extended fieldwork in Morocco required. Fitness for service in the subtropics is mandatory.

Tasks:
  • Characterize and map social-ecological system archetypes of tree-based agriculture
  • Quantify ecosystem services and disservices supplied by different agricultural configurations
  • Analyze distribution, access, and governance of ecosystem services through focus groups
  • Coordinate and participate in fieldwork in Morocco
  • Present results at seminars, workshops, and international conferences
Requirements:
  • Completed university degree in agriculture, forestry, geography, environmental social sciences, or related field (by the latest recruitment date)
  • Fluency in English (proven by TOEFL ≥80, IELTS, or equivalent)
  • Experience with participatory research methods
  • Knowledge of sustainability science concepts (e.g., ecosystem services, cultural landscapes, social-ecological systems) and land-use sciences
  • Ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience in scientific writing and publishing
