Jobbeschreibung

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Social Media based in United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape a global social media function and define how a leading technology organization engages audiences across digital channels. The role will own social strategy, performance, budget, tooling, team development, and measurable business impact. You will connect company, product, brand, and employer stories to customers, users, contributors, candidates, and industry audiences. As a player‑coach, you will combine strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement in content, campaigns, and channel execution. You will work closely with Marketing, Communications, Product, Sales, Talent Acquisition, and Developer Relations teams in a distributed, asynchronous environment. The position also offers significant influence over executive social presence, creator programs, employee advocacy, and the organization's broader digital voice. Success will be measured through audience growth, engagement, business contribution, and the ability to continuously strengthen social strategy through data and innovation.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the overall performance of the social media function and its contribution to marketing and broader business objectives.
  • Lead global organic social media strategy, channel plans, editorial priorities, and audience‑focused campaigns across company, product, brand, and talent initiatives.
  • Own the YouTube strategy end to end, including channel architecture, programming, series development, long‑and short‑form video, packaging, search optimization, recommendation optimization, subscriber growth, and watch‑time performance.
  • Partner with Growth Marketing on paid social initiatives by aligning audiences and messaging, briefing creative, informing amplification decisions, and connecting paid performance insights to organic strategy.
  • Guide content planning and publishing across social channels while maintaining a consistent, compelling, and recognizable brand voice.
  • Manage the social media budget, technology stack, agencies, freelancers, creators, and production partners.
  • Establish effective processes for collaboration and execution within a fully remote and asynchronous operating environment.
  • Use social listening, audience insights, and performance data to improve content and inform broader marketing decisions.
  • Define and manage the social measurement framework, including KPIs, dashboards, reporting cadence, performance analysis, and recommendations for marketing and executive leadership.
  • Build creator, influencer, advocacy, and community engagement programs, including developer creators, community contributors, and employee advocates.
  • Own the employee advocacy program by increasing participation across multiple functions, providing shareable content, managing the advocacy platform, and measuring reach, engagement, and business contribution.
  • Support executive and expert social presence by partnering with Communications to help senior leaders and technical experts participate credibly in relevant conversations.
  • Collaborate with Developer Relations to strengthen community engagement and establish a useful, informed point of view in industry discussions.
  • Apply AI tools thoughtfully across social workflows to improve efficiency, innovation, and the effectiveness of marketing operations.
  • Prepare for and help coordinate responses to sensitive or rapidly developing issues in partnership with the appropriate internal teams.
Requirements:
  • Bring 10 years of social media experience, including at least 5 years leading social strategy for a global brand at senior manager level or above with accountability for overall results.
  • Demonstrate experience owning a social function end to end, including strategy, budget, headcount, tooling, agencies, and measurable outcomes.
  • Have a proven track record of leading teams, agencies, and complex cross‑functional programs while maintaining clear accountability for results.
  • Bring deep expertise in YouTube strategy, including experience growing a brand or business channel and understanding programming, video formats, packaging, and the metrics that drive channel growth.
  • Have hands‑on experience growing LinkedIn and X as primary social channels, with strong judgment around content formats, messaging, and publishing cadence.
  • Understand paid social programs and the relationship between organic and paid strategies, including creative development, audience strategy, amplification, and performance analysis.
  • Be experienced in connecting social programs to broader brand, communications, product, marketing, or business priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong editorial judgment and the ability to transform complex subjects into clear, engaging, and audience‑relevant content.
  • Have experience with both short‑form and long‑form video and with managing production partners and creators.
  • Be skilled in developing social measurement frameworks, dashboards, KPIs, and reporting programs and presenting insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Have experience building or scaling employee advocacy programs, driving adoption across multiple functions, sustaining participation, and measuring attributed reach and business contribution.
  • Be fluent with enterprise social platforms for publishing, listening, and advocacy, with experience using tools such as Sprout Social, Meltwater, and EveryoneSocial.
  • Have experience managing social programs across multiple regions and languages, with sound judgment about which elements should be localized versus centrally managed.
  • Demonstrate strong prioritization, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills in fast‑moving environments.
  • Bring a collaborative and inclusive leadership style and the ability to operate effectively within a distributed, asynchronous organization.
  • Show genuine interest in the future of software development, open source, artificial intelligence, and DevSecOps.
