Director of Engineering- Berlin (Hybrid)

We’re partnering with one of Europe’s most exciting tech scale-ups that’s building cutting-edge software products used by thousands of businesses and users across the globe. With rapid growth, a collaborative culture, and a bold vision, they are now seeking a Director of Engineering to help lead their next phase of technical evolution.

The Role:

As Director of Engineering, you’ll play a critical role in bridging strategic leadership and technical execution. You’ll work closely with the CTO and cross-functional teams to lead the engineering organization in building scalable, secure, and high-performance software systems. This is a unique opportunity to shape both the technical direction and team culture in a fast-moving environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple engineering teams, aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Collaborate with the CTO on technical strategy, architecture, and long-term planning.
  • Promote engineering excellence across development workflows, code quality, and system performance.
  • Mentor and support engineering managers and team leads, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of roadmap initiatives.
  • Support scaling efforts by developing your engineers playing specific attention to DEIB focused strategies.
  • Act as a key technical voice for senior leadership, providing strategic input and ensuring transparency.

Your Profile:

  • Extensive experience in senior engineering leadership roles, ideally in high-growth B2B or B2C tech companies.
  • Strong technical background across the backend stack and infrastructure (e.g., Python, Go, Node, & GCP) with knowledge of modern frontend frameworks.
  • Proven ability to scale engineering teams and systems while maintaining quality and velocity.
  • Deep understanding of modern software development practices, microservices architecture, and CI/CD.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management, with fluency in German and English (C1/C2).
  • A thoughtful and inspiring leader who values collaboration, clarity, and impact.
