Director of Rehabilitation - Inpatient Rehab

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Director of Rehabilitation, IP Therapy Services to join the Leadership Council and participate in the establishment of policies and procedures for all IP therapy services.

The hospital, in collaboration with Kessler Foundation, is one of only seven centers across the country to be designated as a Model System for the treatment and research of both traumatic brain (TBI) and spinal cord injuries (SCI). Accredited by the Joint Commission and CARF (SCI, TBI, stroke, amputation, and general rehabilitation), Kessler Institute also offers comprehensive programs for complex medical, stroke, orthopedic trauma, neurologic diseases, cancer, and cardiac recovery.

The Director of Rehabilitation, IP Therapy Services designs and implements a framework to integrate and coordinate patient care services and program development with all IP therapy departments within the West Orange hospital campus, consistent with quality service and maximization of profit. The Director provides direction, expertise, and mentoring to facilitate the growth and development of IP rehabilitation therapy services. The DOR will direct the daily operations of inpatient physical, occupational, speech, and recreational therapy services.
The DOR will be responsible for managing a very large rehabilitation department consisting of approximately 119 direct reports and 4 managers. A key component of the position is a proven track record in strong leadership, interpersonal relations, and effective communication skills dealing with all levels of staff from entry level to senior management.
Minimum Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy
Current and valid NJ state licensure as a Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapist required. (For Speech discipline: Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association required)
Preferred Requirement
A minimum of seven years of experience as a therapist in an acute rehab setting, including a minimum of five years supervisory experience.
