Director of AI, Data Science, and Machine Learning
ASSISTments Foundation - Remote - Full time
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a talented team of data engineers & analysts to drive data-centered initiatives
- Co-design and architect a pipeline and warehousing system for streaming, transforming, and storing structured application data for AI/ML and analysis purposes
- Build and maintain systems for managing model training, fine-tuning, deployment, and evaluation to support model-agnostic feature development
- Explore and compare different self-hosted and off-the-shelf models and architectures for various use-cases, determining which is most appropriate for which purpose
- Create and iterate on prompts to power a user-facing LLM-powered features
- Fine-tune models for optimized performance on specific applications
- Educate team members on AI capabilities to check feasibility and co-ideate solutions
- Advise colleagues on best practices for prompt engineering and AI feature development
- Conduct targeted analysis on platform data to guide and inform organizational strategy
- Collaborate with product team to design and analyze A/B tests to maximize adoption, engagement, and student learning
- Develop a standardized growth metric and analysis to evaluate and showcase ASSISTments value to external stakeholders
- Identify, communicate, and capitalize on opportunities across the organization to leverage additional value from data, AI, and ML
Professional Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Python, pandas, numpy, scikit-learn
- Prompt engineering for user-facing application features
- Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Qualitative and quantitative techniques for evaluating model output
- Data cleaning and processing
- Statistical analysis
- Git + GitHub
- Nice to have some familiarity with Flask
About You
Must Have
- You have experience taking AI powered solutions from concept to production
- MS or higher in Statistics, Data Science, AI/ML, or related field
- You are goal-oriented, inclined to take ownership, and motivated to deliver results that benefit the product and the organization.
- You are a fast learner, able to quickly get up to speed on complicated topics.
- You are both creative and analytical, applying either skill when appropriate.
- You have a passion for process improvement, efficiency, and innovation.
- You have an extreme attention to detail.
- You are committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and in our educational systems
Nice to Have
- 5+ Years of experience in AI, ML and statistics
- PhD in Statistics, Data Science, AI/ML, or related field
- PhD or MS in Statistics, Data Science, AI/ML, or related field
Additional Info & Compensation
The salary range for this position is $120,000-$165,000, with actual offer determined based upon experience and relevant qualifications.
