Your area of work:
Constituting the key vehicle for interest representation, the Government Relations & Political Affairs Section acts as the gateway to the political and regulatory sphere. Bringing together an international team of experts on legislative and political processes at regional, national, supranational and global level, the Section designs and implements DBG's advocacy strategies concerning key regulatory and political issues.

Deploying a multitude of instruments, Government Relations & Political Affairs leverages DBG's business strategy by mitigating risks and developing opportunities in the political and regulatory context. The Section provides qualitative and timely information throughout the whole legislative lifecycle to ensure informed engagement and represents DBG's interests in associations such as the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE), the European Association of CCP Clearing Houses (EACH) and the European Central Securities Depositories Association (ECSDA).

Managing the group-wide interaction with key political and regulatory stakeholders, such as from Ministries, Parliaments or the European Commission, the team acts at global, national and regional level with permanent representative offices and staff on the ground in Brussels, Berlin, Eschborn and Luxembourg to maximise DBG’s resonance.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensuring consistent monitoring of international, European and national political and regulatory developments
  • Leading the development, implementation and execution of advocacy and political communication strategies
  • Driving the political and regulatory relationship management, entertaining a solid network
  • Representing Deutsche Börse Group’s interests at various levels in conjunction with frequent travelling
  • Preparing briefings, background analyses, assessments and political factsheets
  • Support the work in relation to relevant industry associations
  • Working in close cooperation with different business divisions of Deutsche Börse Group
  • Reporting to and working closely with the Chief of Staff, Head of Group Corporate and Regulatory Strategy

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable degree in economics, law, European studies, political or social sciences
  • At least 10 years working experience in government relations, public affairs or a related field as well as a proven track record concerning political processes at national, European and international level
  • Solid knowledge of political institutions as well as formal and informal decision-making processes across various levels and layers
  • In-depth knowledge of European and national financial markets policies and ongoing legislative files
  • Well-established contact network within political and regulatory institutions as well as central banks
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to explain complex topics in a structured way and present them in accordance with different target audiences
  • Strong information gathering and processing as well as presentation skills
  • Extroverted personality to maintain the internal and external network
  • Inclusive leadership style, leveraging diversity and ability to lead and work well with international teams based in different locations
  • Very good written and spoken English language proficiency; proficiency of German and/or another European official language would be an advantage
  • Dedication, a strong ability to work in cross-divisional teams across different geographical locations in an international set-up and a high willingness to walk the extra mile positively complement your profile
