Job summary

One Thousand is seeking a Director Delivery to define and raise the standard of AI project delivery. You will lead a growing team of project and squad leads, coaching them toward defined career paths and optimal utilization of talent.

You will partner with C-level clients to unblock critical situations, design new AI-first delivery concepts, and scale delivery across a diverse client portfolio including the Mittelstand and NGOs. A truly senior leadership role awaits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years delivering complex projects, ideally in top-tier consulting, AI, tech or related fields.
• Proven ability to build trust with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite.
• Demonstrated speed in analyzing and solving problems, with tech literacy.

We are looking for a Director Delivery (m/w/d) who identifies with most of the following:

What the role is about

• You will define what "best practice" delivery looks like at One Thousand. This means setting the standards, playbooks, and quality bar for how our AI breakthrough projects get delivered
• You will lead and grow our team of Project and Squad Leads, providing guidance, coaching, and a clear career path as we scale
• You will plan staffing needs and hire the best of the best consultants and optimize our utilization using internal and external staffing options
• You will jump into key moments of projects as an experienced advisor to C-level clients when things get hard, unblocking teams and clients and steering critical situations back on track
• You will design and pilot entirely new AI-first delivery concepts, then make sure they actually stick and embedding them into how the whole organization works, not just on paper
• You will be a key contributor in growing our high-impact start-up and shaping our identity– both internally and externally
• You will be working not only with corporates, but also help powering the "Mittelstand", large international NGOs, scale-ups, unions, or the public sector with an AI-first approach
• You will be part of the senior leadership team of One Thousand and contribute to decisions that will shape how the organization will develop and grow

What you bring

• Knowing how to execute real-life projects, at scale: You have at least 5 years of experience successfully managing and delivering complex projects, ideally in top level management consulting firms, AI, tech, or a related field
• Building trust: You have experience establishing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders on all levels including C-level, creating a foundation for open communication and effective partnerships.
• Bringing high processor speed: You are incredibly fast in anticipating, analyzing and solving problems, understanding tech basics, and using tools.
• Understanding of and experience in AI projects and Machine Learning.
• Building and scaling delivery excellence: You have hands‑on experience defining processes, playbooks, and best practices for how projects should run, and know how to get an organization to actually adopt them.
• Leading people: You have experience managing, coaching, and developing a team of project leads, and enjoy helping others grow into stronger leaders.
• Speaking, writing, calculating: You're a strong verbal and written communicator and you can lead workshops and don't shy away from numbers.
• Being dedicated: You don't have to master everything, yet you fully support the team to reach our goals in a result‑oriented way of working while fostering a culture of caring.
• Dealing with ambiguity: Even if some challenges are vaguely defined, you make sense of what needs to be done. See it. Say it. Sort it!
• Ability to communicate in German and English with level C1 or higher.
• Openness to travel to client locations when it matters (30-50% of worktime in peaks)
