Job summary

One Thousand is seeking a Chief of Staff to the CEO in Berlin. You will partner closely with the CEO, drive critical initiatives, and remove obstacles to accelerate AI-driven growth for the team of 50. Fluency in German and English is required, with onsite presence in Berlin and travel with Tim.

You will lead cross-functional alignment, manage high-velocity projects, and maintain a razor-sharp focus on strategic priorities while upholding our high standards and fast-paced culture.

Qualifications

• Direct, trusted sounding-board for the CEO.
• Drive end-to-end execution and deliver results.
• Identify and clear bottlenecks before they derail work.
• Coordinate with HR, Operations and Delivery for smooth topics.
• Shield the CEO from operational noise to enable strategic focus.
• Proven experience in high-growth startups or consulting is a plus.
• Fluency in German and English (C1+) with onsite presence in Berlin.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to the CEO (m/w/d) who identifies with most of the following:

What the role is about

• True Sparring Partner: You act as a direct, trusted sounding board for the CEO. You have the judgment and courage to say "this is not important" and back it up with sound reasoning.
• Extreme Ownership: You take projects from A to Z. You don't just coordinate; you drive execution, solve problems, and get things done end-to-end.
• Unblocking Bottlenecks: You proactively spot where decisions are stuck and clear roadblocks before anyone has to ask you to.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: You work closely with Tim and our clients and also with HR, Operations and Delivery teams to ensure operational topics run smoothly without needing CEO intervention.
• Scaling Leadership: You shield the CEO from operational noise so he can focus purely on high-leverage decisions and strategic growth. You also build up context by accompanying Tim that helps you to push for the decisive next steps when Tim is not around.

• Founder or Consulting Background: Prior experience in high-growth startups, consulting, or founder-adjacent environments is a strong plus.
• Founder Fit: You have experience working effectively alongside strong personalities and know how to stand your ground even in controversial topics.
• Language & Location: Ability to communicate fluently in German and English (C1+). Onsite presence in Berlin and traveling together with Tim.
