A leading asset management firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to strengthen its presence in the Swiss market. The successful candidate will build strategic relationships with institutional clients and lead sales efforts. Purpose of role
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key institutional prospects, investment consultants and other stakeholders in Switzerland, with a focus on fixed income and investment solutions.
  • The primary objective is to raise Insight’s brand visibility and expand its client base in the Swiss market.
  • Key responsibilities include developing a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, driving AUM and revenue growth, and leading targeted engagement efforts with investors.
  • The role also involves collaborating across internal teams to identify cross-selling opportunities, leading pitch efforts, and representing Insight at industry events and conferences.
  • Additionally, the role requires monitoring market trends and assessing opportunities to evolve Insight’s product and service offering.
Key responsibilities
  • Identify and convert opportunities across Insight’s fixed income and solutions capabilities, with a focus on Swiss institutional investors.
  • Build and deepen relationships with prospective clients, leveraging internal networks and partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with Relationship Management, Consultant Relations, and Client Solutions Group (CSG) to align efforts and maximize impact.
  • Lead and execute sales campaigns, including roadshows, conferences, and direct prospecting.
  • Manage the sales pipeline with discipline, from qualification through to closing.
  • Oversee and contribute to the development of marketing materials, RFPs, and client presentations.
  • Provide market insights to inform product development and strategic planning for the Swiss market.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Manage all aspects of Insight’s day to day interactions with prospective clients in Switzerland
  • Provide knowledge transfer to junior team members and other internal stakeholders where required
  • Play an active role in product and capability development for Switzerland by articulating long term trends and product gaps to the investment teams
  • Accountability for the overall Swiss sales plan
Knowledge, skills and experience required
  • 5-10+ years of experience in the Swiss institutional market, with a strong track record in business development.
  • Deep understanding of the asset management industry, including Swiss and European regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of investor segments, including key decision-makers, consultants, and fiduciary managers.
  • Proven ability to broaden market access and develop relationships at all organizational levels.
  • In-depth investment knowledge, particularly in fixed income and solutions.
  • Experience managing the end-to-end sales process, including RFPs, pitches, and fee negotiations.
  • Fluent in Swiss German, with excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to Switzerland to maintain strong, in-person relationships with clients and consultants.
  • Strong negotiation skills, including commercial terms, NDAs, and fee structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Meets regulatory competence requirements (e.g., ‘approved person’ status).
