We operate across 29 locations with over 1,200 engineers and designers who are empowered to act with flexibility and agility in response to the local market conditions and practices. We are 100% owned by Partners working in the practice. We have been named Building’s ‘Engineering Consultant of the Year’ in 2024, 2022, and 2021, priding ourselves on our exemplary track record of designing innovative and sustainable projects.

Established in 2006, our data centre team has been at the forefront of mission-critical design and exceptional in-house engineering services. Collaborating with clients worldwide, we have delivered over 2,000MW of data centre capacity. Our team’s primary objective is to design the world’s most energy efficient, low-emission, and socially responsible data centres leveraging engineering excellence. Our multi-disciplinary engineering-led team takes pride in working closely with clients on every project achieving the highest levels of engineering resilience and excellence. We were named Data Centre Review’s ‘Data Centre Consultancy of the Year’ in 2025.

Cundall established our Frankfurt office in 2024 to manage secured hyperscale projects in Germany. In 2025, we are looking to recruit an experienced leader to help establish and grow our German office.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, client-focused building services leader with electrical or mechanical experience. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing our data centre team in Frankfurt and play a pivotal role in expanding our data centre sector in Germany.

You will be responsible for the German office’s day-to-day operational leadership and management. The focus will begin with developing a mechanical and electrical data centre team before growing into a fully multi-disciplinary consulting team. You will receive support from our data centre team across Europe and operate as an integrated leader within our data centre sector.

You will nurture our existing strong client relationships to deliver our secured workload in Germany. This role gives the opportunity to establish, grow, manage, motivate and lead our team in Frankfurt.

You may be an Associate looking to step up to a new role with your technical experience. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to progress into a leadership position. Whilst data centre experience is welcomed, it is not a necessity. Our European data centre team will provide the necessary technical support and skills to support you and achieve our project’s needs.

Responsibilities;

Sector leadership and management:

  • Participate in European data centre sector leadership and managerial activities.
  • Contribute to progression of our data centre sector through thought leadership.
  • Lead local recruitment activities.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, setting objectives and identifying development needs.
  • Ensure Cundall Germany GmbH complies with statutory requirements for tax and public law (support provided as necessary).

Business development and client management:

  • Engage in business development and client management, building on our existing customer base.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities and attend meetings and events.
  • Manage relationships with clients, maintaining regular contact and records.

Proposal and project management:

  • Review request for proposals for opportunities and risks, including commercial assessments.
  • Contribute to fee proposals and calculations, supported by a designated Partner.
  • Monitor and manage project resourcing requirements.
  • Oversee financial aspects of projects.
  • Maintain technical standards and expertise to achieve technical excellence.
The Skills

A Chartered Engineer and ‘Ingenieur’ with the German Council of Engineers educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or an equivalent technical Engineering discipline. You will be fluent in English at both a written and speaking level and a strong communicator.

You will have gained significant experience in a consulting engineering role within your engineering field. Whilst data centre experience is preferred this is not essential. You will have demonstrated experience in growing and leading teams managing multi-disciplinary projects with a client-focused perspective.
