As a Development Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping SAP’s future architecture strategy aligned with our AI-first and Suite-first product directions. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, you will serve as a deep technical expert, driving innovation across SAP’s portfolio by designing and enabling next-generation, cloud-native, and AI-integrated architectures.

You will work in a global, cross-functional setup, engaging with strategic architecture topics that influence platform evolution, product strategy, and customer outcomes. Your technical depth and hands-on attitude will help ensure our solutions are scalable, intelligent, secure, and future-ready.

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

1. Champion architectural excellence across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with SAP’s AI-first and Suite-first strategies.
2. Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of major architectural initiatives, focusing on scalability, performance, and security.
3. Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment through effective communication and stakeholder alignment.
4. Identify and evaluate architecture risks, deliver strategic recommendations, and influence management decisions.
5. Work with executive leadership and product teams to define and drive architectural roadmaps aligned with SAP’s business objectives.
6. Promote innovative approaches, integrating emerging trends like AI, machine learning, and cloud-native solutions to future-proof SAP’s technology landscape.
7. Collaborate with global teams to ensure architecture decisions are adaptable and scalable for diverse business needs.
8. Design and manage cloud and AI system architectures for complex customer solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and measurable value.
9. Continuously improve development processes to drive efficiency, scalability, and innovation across SAP’s offerings.

YOUR PROFILE

1. 8+ years of experience in software architecture with recognized expertise in AI system architecture, cloud-native frameworks, or large-scale distributed systems.
2. Advanced knowledge of software architecture and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP), focusing on scalability and performance optimization.
3. Deep proficiency in container technologies, Kubernetes (including Gardener), microservices, and network technology.
4. Experience with SAP technologies, BTP, enterprise integration landscapes, or CloudFoundry.
5. Proven success designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems using modern cloud platforms and technologies.
6. Strong expertise in quantum computing, distributed systems, data or AI/ML architecture, including model training, deployment, MLOps, and AI service integration.
7. Experience working with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders to align technical and business goals.
8. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
9. Extensive experience in technical documentation and technical leadership.
10. Fluency in English and strong communication skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
11. Ability to communicate ideas clearly to executive staff, technical resources, and key stakeholders.
