HCLTech Germany is seeking a Desktop DevEx Engineer to standardize and automate EUC endpoints across macOS and Windows, ensuring secure and compliant developer tooling delivery.

Work with engineering, security, and RTB teams to implement governance for developer tooling, automate workspaces, and coordinate rollouts in UAT and PROD environments.

• Design and implement processes for allocating, configuring, and maintaining EUC endpoints for developers (Windows with Dev Drive, WSLv2, Docker Desktop; macOS with Desktop Virtualization, Docker Desktop).
• Engineer and automate developer workspace setup including API tokens, certificates, proxies, pipelines, and environment settings.
• Improve and standardize packaging and deployment of SDLC tools and utilities.
• Contribute to governance model for developer tooling including a package manager and auto-update frameworks.
• Support secure, elevated access models for developers.

About the Role

Overview

The Desktop DevEx Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing the target-state developer experience on EUC endpoints across macOS and Windows. This role focuses on standardising the developer persona, eliminating exception-based processes, and ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient delivery of developer tooling and workspace configuration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement processes for allocating, configuring, and maintaining EUC endpoints tailored to developer needs (Windows (Dev Drive, WSLv2, Docker Desktop), macOS (Desktop Virtualization, Docker Desktop).
• Engineer and automate the developer workspace setup, including configuration of API tokens, certificates, proxies, pipelines, and environment settings
• Improve and standardize packaging and deployment processes for SDLC tools and software manufacturing utilities.
• Contribute to the creation of a governance model for developer-specific tooling, including:
• A package manager for rapid and compliant distribution
• Auto-update frameworks for key developer tools (e.g. major IDEs)
• Controls to mitigate unauthorized executables on endpoints
• Support the design of secure, elevated access models for developers across developer devices.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and RTB teams to transition solutions into long-term operational ownership.
• Provide rollout coordination, documentation, and end-user communication for DevEx-related changes in UAT and PROD.

Primary Technical Skills

• macOS engineering (including Desktop Virtualization) and Windows engineering (including Dev Drive, WSLv2)
• Software packaging for macOS and Windows
• Scripting: shell, PowerShell, Python
• ServiceNow, Intune, Artifactory and MS Power Platform
• Understanding of SDLC tooling, developer workflows, and endpoint security controls
