Job summary

Empiric is seeking a Design Manager to establish and lead its new German operation from Frankfurt. You will own the design delivery across architectural, structural and MEP disciplines, manage consultants, and shape the local design programme while building lasting client relationships.

Job description

I’m recruiting a Design Manager for an established international engineering consultancy building its presence in Germany. This is an opportunity to join at the start, take ownership and help build the operation around you. You’ll have the backing of an experienced international data centre team, with the space to make decisions, establish local relationships and shape how the German business develops. You’ll lead multidisciplinary design delivery, bringing architectural, structural and MEP teams together. You’ll take responsibility for the design programme, manage consultants, challenge decisions and work directly with clients to keep complex projects moving.

The opportunity extends beyond delivering individual projects. You’ll help build the local team, set standards and establish the business in the German market, with scope for your responsibilities to grow alongside the operation.

I’m looking for someone from an architecture, design management or construction programme management background who has led complex design delivery and can bring both technical judgement and commercial awareness.

Data centre experience would be particularly valuable, alongside major industrial or other technically demanding projects. You’ll need to be comfortable leading teams, making decisions and representing the business in front of clients.

Fluent German and English are essential, together with a commitment to being based in Germany.
