Objectives:
- Support the development of Total Water Management (TWM) opportunities: collaborate with Senior Design Engineers to provide project engineering support by developing mass balances, process flow sheets, preparing proposals & estimates (CAPEX/OPEX), and providing technical and commercial support at client meetings.
- Build long-term relationships with internal and external customers by understanding their key business drivers. High emotional intelligence is required for this position.
Overview:
- Based in Germany with regular contact with your direct supervisor.
- Proficient in a wide range of water treatment process technologies and experienced in designing water treatment systems (mass balance, flow sheets, water mapping, equipment selection, costing, document preparation).
- Familiar with engineering drawings (P&ID, General Arrangement, Isometric sketches, data sheets, troubleshooting lists, electrical and automation drawings).
- Capable of analyzing water and wastewater systems from mechanical, operational, and chemical perspectives and proposing compliant solutions.
- Proactively collaborate with clients and colleagues to determine project needs, evaluate business models, and develop project specifications.
- Supervise or execute site surveys, conceptual, and basic design to optimize technical and economic outcomes between OPEX and CAPEX.
- Manage project budgets, address issues during execution, and improve construction methods.
- Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Experience with plant operation & maintenance is a plus.
- Maintain customer relationships, address technical/business issues, and support contract renewals.
- Stay informed about international standards and norms for equipment construction and certification, as well as safety and environmental legislation.
What we are looking for:
- Education: Degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years experience in designing and supporting the sale of water and wastewater equipment and systems, including clarification, filtration, membrane separation, RO/UF, DAF, solids separation, and biological treatments.
- Minimum 5 years proven experience in project execution.
- Familiarity with water treatment plant commissioning and start-up.
- Fluent in English and German, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented attitude.
- Commercial mindset and financial acumen.
- Synthesis and pragmatic approach, with the ability to manage conflicts and work under pressure.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% for project discovery and development.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD is preferred.
