Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty, and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). Our Mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all.

The Dental Sterilizer Technician is responsible for the sterilization of all dental instruments used in dental procedures, as well as any instruments laid out for possible use. The Dental Sterilization Technician may also set up and break down dental armamentarium from operatories as needed.

Work Schedule:

Sunday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Responsibilities
  • Organizes trays, instruments, and treatment room drawers at all times. Prepares dental units for Dentist, stocks units, and ensures that units are clean at all times.
  • Maintains the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/disinfection protocols.
  • Sterilizes all instruments and headpieces according to OSHA regulations.
  • Prepares and arranges instruments for the sterilization process.
  • Wears heavy-duty utility gloves, a face shield, and protective coverings when handling contaminated instruments.
  • Puts away and organizes dental instruments in operatories for re-use.
  • Operates sterilization machines (Autoclaves) safely, without risking burns or personal injury.
  • Ensures that office sterilization procedures are documented and posted at all times.
  • Breaks down, cleans, and sets up operatories as needed to assist the dental assistants.
  • Cross-trains in other dental support positions as necessary.
  • Escorts patients to treatment room, seats patients, and has proper setup for procedure ready as needed.
  • Conducts pre-patient staff meetings in the morning each day before starting shift.
  • Complies with all OSHA, Dental Board, and MCC policies.
  • Oversees cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures.
  • Disinfects treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations.
  • Conducts daily handpiece inventory. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Intermediate computer use experience, including MS Office/MS Outlook.
  • Ability to multitask and follow directions in a fast-paced clinic environment.
  • Ability to follow directions with high attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Infection Control Certificate.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • May be required to occasionally lift at least 20 – 25 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, stooping, and reaching.
