The Role

This is a contract role with the possibility of extensions after 6 months.
About the Role
Our team is seeking a strong Data Center Technician to support company-specific servers and data center build-outs at customer data centers.
- The ideal candidate combines strong technical hardware skills, physical network setup expertise, and excellent communication skills. They should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess a results-driven attitude.
- This person will serve as a mentor and trainer to other service technicians, provide feedback, create documentation, and contribute to our knowledge library, including KB articles, SOPs, and lessons learned. The technician will also lead initiatives and be both internal and external facing.
Key Requirements and Responsibilities
Hardware Troubleshooting
- Extensive knowledge of server hardware and component failures.
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or Failure Analysis.
Physical Network Setup
- Troubleshooting network issues across Layer-1, Layer-2, and Layer-3.
- Managing cables: making, cleaning, running, and labeling.
- Assisting with switch setups and confirming network connections.
- Updating port maps and tracing cables.
- Conducting experiments to identify root causes.
- Performing failure analysis through hardware, system, or firmware testing.
- Collaborating with internal teams and customers.
- Supporting global field deployments and maintaining deployment equipment and software.
- Learning and training on new products.
- Assisting field technicians with real-time issue resolution.
- Monitoring server fleet health for trends and SLA compliance.
- Using Linux and Windows command-line tools for troubleshooting.
- Leading pre-work meetings to align on requirements.
- Providing daily status updates.
- Developing and implementing customer initiatives.
- Supporting field activities by creating SOPs, knowledge articles, and guides.
- Training on new issues, processes, and tools.
- Ensuring detailed documentation and feedback to engineering teams.
- Managing pre- and post-work project follow-ups.
Ideal Profile
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a data center technician, including server hardware troubleshooting, networking, and cable management.
- High school diploma required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently or with assistance.
- Ability to work autonomously or in a team, including remote teams.
