Data Center/ Network Operations Engineer & Fiber Optic engineer

Duration: 6–12 months

Rate: Competitive (€/month)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Data Center & Network Operations Engineer to support infrastructure and network hardware operations. The role involves hands-on installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, with strong collaboration across server, network, and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Rack & stack, cabling (fiber/copper), asset tagging, labeling

Install/test cables and optics (RJ45, MPO, etc.)

Perform break-fix: line card swaps, BER testing, RMA handling

Execute IMACs, hardware migrations, and basic remote configurations

Maintain documentation and follow ITIL best practices

Required Skills & Experience:

5–8 years in data center or DWDM environments

3+ years of hands-on experience with network hardware installation/troubleshooting

Expertise with VFL, OPM, OTDR, BER tools

Proficiency in rack/stack, patching, loop-back testing, and cable management

Familiarity with IPv4/IPv6, remote access tools, and storage systems

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field

ITIL knowledge preferred

Fluent in English and local language (B2–C1)

Soft Skills:

Strong documentation, SLA/KPI management, and vendor coordination

Problem-solver with excellent communication and customer-facing skills
