Job summary

MEAG in Munich seeks an AI generalist to guide the AI & Data Transformation agenda, advise business units, manage cross‑functional projects, and build practical AI solutions.

You will shape strategy, forecast opportunities, deliver trainings, prototype with Python and LLMs, coordinate data engineers and experts, and ensure governance, security, and responsible‑AI practices across MEAG.

Qualifications

• University degree in CS, data science, engineering, economics, or math.
• Several years of experience at the interface of business and technology.
• Proven ability to structure complex problems and present recommendations to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Advise business units and senior stakeholders on AI opportunities, priorities, models, and practical implications of AI technologies.
• Identify and structure AI use cases with business/tech teams, turning ambiguity into roadmaps and plans.
• Lead interdisciplinary AI projects from idea through prototyping, implementation, and benefits tracking.
• Design and deliver AI trainings, workshops, and enablement formats for diverse audiences.
• Develop prototypes and production-ready AI solutions using Python, APIs, LLMs, and RAG.
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and partners to ensure scalable, secure integration.
• Prepare decision papers, management presentations, and actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support AI governance and portfolio management with documentation, risk assessment, and compliance alignment.
• Monitor market/tech developments and translate trends into concrete MEAG recommendations.

As the asset manager of Munich Re and ERGO, MEAG makes a significant contribution to the success of Munich Re Group. Our staff bring together peerless know-how in all the relevant asset classes and are the driving force behind our success as one of the world's top asset managers.

We are seeking a versatile and motivated AI generalist with a consulting mindset to join the AI & Data Transformation department. In this role, you will work across the full spectrum of AI transformation—from shaping strategic priorities and advising business stakeholders to managing projects, delivering trainings, and developing practical AI solutions. You will combine business understanding, structured problem-solving, strong communication skills, and hands-on technical capabilities to help embed AI effectively and responsibly across MEAG.

Your main responsibilities:

• Advise business units and senior stakeholders on AI opportunities, strategic priorities, target operating models, and the practical implications of emerging AI technologies
• Identify, assess, and structure AI use cases together with business and technology teams, translating ambiguous challenges into clear concepts, roadmaps, and implementation plans
• Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary AI projects from initial idea and business case through prototyping, implementation, rollout, and benefits tracking
• Design and deliver AI trainings, workshops, and enablement formats for different target groups, helping colleagues build practical skills and adopt AI responsibly in their day-to-day work
• Develop prototypes and selected production-ready AI solutions using Python, APIs, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, and other suitable technologies
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, platform teams, and external partners to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and integrated into business processes
• Prepare decision papers, management presentations, status reports, and recommendations that make complex AI topics clear and actionable for technical and non-technical audiences
• Support AI governance and portfolio management by documenting solutions, assessing risks and dependencies, and ensuring alignment with applicable data, security, compliance, and responsible-AI requirements
• Monitor market and technology developments, evaluate relevant tools and providers, and translate trends into concrete recommendations for MEAG

Your profile:

• University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a comparable discipline
• Several years of relevant experience in management consulting, technology consulting, digital transformation, AI delivery, or a comparable role at the interface of business and technology
• Broad understanding of the AI landscape, including generative AI, machine learning, data and technology platforms, AI governance, and the organizational requirements for successful adoption
• Proven ability to structure complex and ambiguous problems, develop pragmatic recommendations, and communicate them convincingly to senior stakeholders
• Experience managing projects or workstreams across multiple stakeholders, with a track record of moving initiatives from concept to implementation
• Strong facilitation, presentation, and training skills, with the ability to adapt content to executives, business experts, and technical audiences
• Hands-on technical capabilities and a willingness to build, test, and improve AI solutions; practical experience with Python, APIs, large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, or AI agents is highly desirable
• Entrepreneurial mindset, intellectual curiosity, and the flexibility to switch confidently between strategic, conceptual, operational, and technical tasks
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across business, technology, governance functions, and external partners
• Knowledge of asset management, financial markets, or investment processes is an advantage
• Business proficiency in English and German is required
