Job Description

We are looking for a Data Scientist - Customer Logistics, Choice to join our Logistics Team and help us deliver exceptional experiences. In this role, you will address high-impact challenges to make last-mile delivery more efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly enhance experiences for riders, customers, and merchants worldwide, supporting our expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.

The Customer Logistics tribe's mission is to develop products that enable local brands to operate efficiently and provide a delightful order experience, encouraging repeat business. The tribe includes skilled analysts, engineers, and scientists working collaboratively to deliver data solutions impacting every customer journey across all of Delivery Hero's 70+ markets.

• Develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and optimization models for choice optimization, rider fleet management, travel time prediction, and demand control. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve model efficiency and performance.
• Analyze large datasets to identify opportunities and deploy sophisticated statistical techniques to enhance decision-making.
• Engage in research to explore emerging trends in machine learning and data science, contributing to the advancement of our digital products and algorithms. Stay informed about industry developments and incorporate new methodologies into workflows.

Qualifications

• Proficient in modeling business problems using machine learning techniques, including feature engineering, model selection, evaluation, and optimization to generate business value.
• Experience building and training advanced machine learning models with Python, including Pandas, SQL, Scikit-learn, and PySpark.
• Fluent in SQL for data exploration and supporting analysis and model development.
• Ability to write clean, production-level code and utilize version control systems like Git.
• Familiarity with deploying and developing in cloud environments, ideally GCP and BigQuery.
• Strong desire to learn, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective collaboration with stakeholders across diverse teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large-scale optimization problems (linear or mixed-integer programming).
• Hands-on experience creating and deploying causal models.
• Experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B tests, quasi-experiments, switchback tests).
• Background in logistics product development.
