Cruisewatch GmbH in Hannover, Germany is seeking a data science professional to join our growing team to expand our B2B cruise advisory platform.

You will work with product, software, and ML researchers from the University of Hannover to analyze large datasets, build explainable models, and deliver data-driven insights for strategic decisions.

This role offers flexible working hours, a co-working office in Hanover, and the opportunity to shape the future of travel tech with investors backing.

Qualifikationen

• PhD or MSc in Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• 2+ years in data analysis and modeling with emphasis on ML.
• Strong experience with data mining, modeling, and algorithm development.
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, or similar ML tools.
• Experience with data querying languages (SQL/NoSQL) and big data ecosystems.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Fluent English; German helpful.

Headquartered in the heart of Hannover (Germany), our investor-backed travel tech startup consistently relies on the use of artificial intelligence and big data. We constantly analyse huge data volumes, get the essence out of it and add smartness. Our cooperation with the local university TNT / Leibniz University assures that we are always up to date with the latest machine learning technologies.

Your Role on Board

• Work hand in hand with a cross-functional team of product management, software engineers, machine learning experts and scientists from University of Hannover
• Understand the existing algorithms and processes, and develop tools for improving explainability, observability and performance of algorithms and systems
• Frame and conduct complex analyses and model building needed to deepen our understanding of cruise related trends
• Leverage machine learning and Big Data tools for big and complex data to deepen our data-driven advisory capabilities
• Connect heterogeneous data to find the relationship within the underlying data
• Experience processing, filtering and presenting large quantities of data from different product groups and business functions
• Proactively identify datasets and uncover relationships which can be enriched with data science
• Develop own machine learning models which increase calculation accuracy and improve internal understanding
• Staying up to date on the latest research, best practices and evangelizing their adoption within the company

Your Profile on Board

• MSc or PhD in a quantitative field such as Machine Learning, Math, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or 4 years of experience in the field
• Experience with stochastic programming or other mathematical optimization problems
• Strong experience with data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling tools and underlying algorithms
• Highly proficient in a scripting or computing language (e.g. Python, TensorFlow, R, Matlab or similar)
• Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• A strong passion for and extensive experience in conducting empirical research and answering hard questions with data
• 2+ years of relevant working experience in an analytical role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and communication
• 2+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop/Hive)
• Strong experience with business reporting tools such as Tableau, Amplitude or similar
• Comfortable collaborating with engineering to identify and own data science implementations in production
• Think outside the box to develop innovative solutions for complex problems
• Team player who is responsible, organized, and goal-oriented
• Use of modern Cloud Infrastructure (GCP/AWS) to solve problems efficiently
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical work to a non-technical audience

Fluent communication in English is a must
