As a Data Governance Specialist with a focus on Data Product Governance, you are part of our growing Data Governance team within our Digital Core function, where we work together on supporting the wider needs and demands from the business, transforming the way we think of data and embedding data management in our key deliveries across all areas of the energy industry. Your role involves supporting business needs, transforming data management practices, and collaborating with teams to optimize the development of Data Products. You will help establish policies for the Data Product Lifecycle, define roles and responsibilities, and contribute to data governance activities to demonstrate the value of data to the business.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Drive the Data Governance team efforts to establish a comprehensive Data Product framework that is adopted across the enterprise for creating, designing, and consuming data products, enabling effective assurance of SE Data Products.
- Clarify the Data Product Lifecycle, including governance stages, roles, and responsibilities, ensuring Data Products are findable, accessible, trusted, reusable, and certifiable according to best practices in our SE Data Catalog.
- Clearly communicate and present Data Governance concepts, particularly around governance of Data Products, and support training activities to empower data roles in addressing business challenges and showcasing the value of governed data.
- Create suitable content to support self-serving capabilities that enrich the enablement framework under which the data governance roles can build and develop their skills and excel at driving Data Product in their own organizations.
- Produce and publish policies, procedures, and guidelines for data governance, particularly for Data Product governance, and lead the planning and delivery of workshops as needed.
- Support data governance activities and projects, including data assurance and regular interactions with governance roles, using your expertise to guide efforts and improve workflows.
- Engage with data stakeholders through Digital forums, especially the Data Governance Council, to formalize decisions on Data Products and secure buy-in. Additionally, collaborate with the Data Governance team, Digital Core, and the business to ensure the Data Product framework is successfully endorsed and adopted.
What You Bring
- University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field. Experience with Collibra, Informatica, or similar platforms.
- Proven experience in defining and implementing data governance practices for Data Products in medium to large companies, ensuring successful delivery of data products through a suitable marketplace and relevant data governance controls.
- Strong understanding of capabilities needed to deliver data products, collaborating with various business and technical roles, such as data engineers, data product owners, enterprise architects, integration architects, metadata specialist, and others to overall bring together their best practices and guidance in one framework.
- Expertise in designing and implementing Data Governance, experience or very good understanding of Master and Reference Data Management, Data Quality Management, Metadata Management, Enterprise Data architecture and Data security practices.
- Excellent communication and change management skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly and manage change effectively. Fluent in English.
