Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Data Governance Manager to lead the global development and execution of enterprise data governance. In this pivotal role you will shape how we manage and use data across the organization, ensuring it is accurate, secure, and trusted. Your work will empower smarter business decisions, strengthen regulatory compliance, and unlock the full value of our data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject-matter expert in data governance, providing strategic guidance and promoting best practices across the entire data lifecycle globally.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to drive the adoption of governance policies and manage structured change processes, ensuring clear accountability and ownership.
- Drive projects and process improvement activities to implement and improve our global Data Governance Framework.
- Lead regular data governance reviews to ensure consistency, system alignment, and adherence to governance standards.
- Ensure data governance policies comply with applicable regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCAOB, SOX). Track and manage program metrics, risks, issues, and corrective actions.
- Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
Essential Requirements
- Completed studies in information technologies, mathematics, computer science or a related discipline.
- More than 5 years of experience in data management, data governance or a related field within an international matrix organization.
- Ability to lead execution of complex projects delivering within defined deadlines and budgets; solid knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, MS Dynamics).
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to promote data governance awareness, encourage ownership, and align efforts with business goals.
- Conduct regular audits and governance reviews, monitor KPIs/metrics, and report on the status of compliance and quality initiatives.
- Deliver training and guidance to foster a data-literate, governance-aware culture across the organization.
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
- Proactive self-starter with a can-do attitude and hands-on mentality.
- Effective communicator, able to interpret and clearly convey information, deliver concise recommendations and interact with stakeholders at various levels, including senior management.
- Experience in leading transformations and navigating ambiguity with a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Very good English language skills (min. Level C1/C2) and German language skills (min. Level B2).
