Zusammenfassung

The DOUGLAS Group is seeking a Data Engineer to join the analytics squad in Düsseldorf. You will contribute to our Snowflake Lakehouse with DBT-based data products, implement SQL transformations, and extend DataVault structures while aligning with Hub, Link, and Satellite concepts.

Collaborating with Senior Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and the Product Owner, you will build knowledge of SAP, e-commerce, and CRM sources, while ensuring data quality through tests and thorough documentation.

Qualifikationen

• Hands-on data engineering experience from studies, apprenticeships, or internships.
• Foundational SQL skills with exposure to DBT or similar frameworks is a plus.
• Basic Python knowledge for data processing or automation.
• Conceptual understanding of data modelling (DataVault or Kimball).
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests and code reviews.

• Within our existing Snowflake Lakehouse platform, you work on clearly defined data product tasks and contribute actively to the development process
• DBT models are built by you following established templates, writing straightforward SQL transformations and working within our existing project structure
• Existing DataVault entities are extended by you based on templates – for example by adding new satellite attributes – while gradually deepening your understanding of Hub, Link, and Satellite concepts
• Schema tests in DBT are maintained and extended by you; you develop an understanding of source freshness and report data quality issues in a structured way to the team
• Existing documentation – including attribute descriptions and source field mappings – is maintained carefully by you, and your own models are commented according to established standards
• Sprint ceremonies are attended by you as an active participant; clearly scoped tasks are completed reliably, and you proactively seek clarification when needed
• In close collaboration with Senior Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and the Product Owner, you build your understanding of the relevant source systems – SAP, e-commerce, and CRM – at a conceptual level

Your Skills

• First hands‑on experience in data engineering or a comparable technical discipline is part of your background – for example from your studies, an apprenticeship, or an internship
• Foundational SQL skills are in place; first exposure to DBT or similar transformation frameworks is a welcome plus
• Basic Python knowledge for data processing or automation is something you bring and are eager to develop further in your day‑to‑day work
• A conceptual understanding of data modelling – for example DataVault or Kimball principles – is either already present or something you are motivated to build in a structured way
• Version‑based workflows such as Git, pull requests, and code reviews are familiar to you, or you are ready and willing to develop confidence in them
• Tasks are approached by you in a structured manner; ticket statuses are updated reliably, and you communicate openly when you need technical guidance
• Fluent communication in both German and English – in writing and verbally – rounds off your profile
