Jobbeschreibung

About the position

As Data Engineer, you will contribute to the development of data products within our Data Mesh architecture, specifically focused on the traffic monitoring domain. You’ll work at the intersection of real-time data processing, system integration, and domain ownership—helping turn raw traffic and sensor data into high-quality, discoverable, and trustworthy data products.

Our tech stack includes Python, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, MinIO/S3, and Kubernetes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Take ownership of end-to-end data flows—from integrating with operational systems to exposing high-quality, well-modeled data for analytical and operational use.
  • Treat data as a product, ensuring it is discoverable, trustworthy, and aligned with consumer needs.
  • Contribute to data-driven decision-making across the organization by delivering robust and maintainable data solutions.
Your profile
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and best practices for performance and usability.
  • Familiarity with Data Mesh principles and experience contributing to decentralized data architectures and domain-oriented ownership.
  • Solid experience in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines for both batch and streaming use cases.
  • Proficiency in Python or Scala and SQL, along with hands-on experience with modern data technologies.
  • Proven experience working in agile development environments, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong grasp of TDD, BDD, and clean code principles.
  • Comfortable working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • A degree in a STEM field or a related discipline; advanced degrees are a plus.
Why us?

As a new member of our team, you can look forward to:

  • Exciting and diverse tasks and close collaboration in small teams.
  • A flexible work schedule and location, with up to 4 days a week from home.
  • Ability to work from abroad for a total of 10 days per year.
  • A competitive salary with annual adjustment in line with the inflation rate.
  • Time for continuous improvement and joint meetups on special topics.
  • Have fun and work together on company and team events.
  • A flat hierarchy and open communication channels with direct access to the CEO.
  • A feelgood manager who attends to your daily needs with best-in-town coffee, refreshments, fresh fruit/vegetables and snacks, and a monthly company breakfast.
  • Bike lease with discount as optional for a stress-free commute.
  • Subsidised Deutschlandticket for easy commuting.
  • Days off for special occasions or if your child is ill.
  • Personalised career plan.
  • Flexible adjustment of your working hours.
