Job summary

Safety io, part of the MSA family, is hiring a Data Engineer in Berlin to build a scalable data platform and enable analytics, data science, and business insights. You will join a young, diverse, agile team and work on a modern stack including Snowflake, dbt, AWS and Airflow.

The role emphasizes data reliability, transformation, and governance, with a hybrid office setup in Berlin and strong collaboration with business stakeholders across functions.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing large-scale data platform infrastructure, including operations, governance, observability and orchestration.
• Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
• Ability to work in an agile environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively develop a Data Platform using Snowflake and dbt.
• Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
• Excellent analytic skills with structured and unstructured data.
• Prepare data for modeling.
• Conduct research and collaborate with business owners as part of solution design.
• Build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependencies and metadata.
• Work as part of an agile team with a larger data organization for project delivery.
• Participate in design and code reviews and provide recommendations.
• Maintain high standards of software quality and best practices.
• Coordinate with security and operations to ensure stability and security of processes and products.
• Collaborate with the data governance lead to design and manage data governance strategy.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. You will use various methods to ingest raw data and provide transformed data objects optimized for data analytics, data science, and business purposes. You should have strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources. You will be joining a young, diverse team in Berlin working in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare data for modeling
• Conduct research and collaborate with business owners as part of solution design
• Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
• Work as a part of an agile team in collaboration with a larger data organization with a goal of successful project delivery
• Participate in design and code reviews and provide appropriate recommendations
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing and maintaining good practices and habits
• Work with the security and operations team to make sure processes and products are stable and secure
• Work with the data governance lead to design, implement, and manage a company data governance strategy
