Job Title: Data Center Networking and Fiber Optic Engineer

Job Type: Full-time / Contract / Onsite

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Networking and Fiber Optic Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure within our data center. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Layer 2/3 networking, fiber optic cabling, routing/switching technologies, and experience working in mission-critical data center environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Configuring and maintaining Layer 2/3 network switches, routers, and firewalls (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, etc.).
  • Managing structured cabling, patch panel arrangements, and cable documentation within the data center.
  • Conducting regular audits of network layouts, labeling, and fiber paths.
  • Collaborating with network architects and system admins to support data center buildouts, expansions, and migrations.
  • Monitoring network performance and implementing improvements to ensure high availability and low latency.
  • Performing OTDR, power meter, and light source testing for fiber verification.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards (TIA/EIA, ANSI, BICSI) and safety procedures.
  • Supporting BMS and DCIM integration for network visibility and control.
  • Creating detailed documentation including diagrams, rack elevations, and handover reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing, testing, and installation.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, BGP, OSPF).
  • Proficiency in handling Cisco/Juniper switches, firewalls, and routers.
  • Hands-on experience with SFP, QSFP, LC/SC connectors, and fiber types (SM/MM).
  • Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, 24/7 mission-critical environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
  • Knowledge of automation tools or scripting (Python, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud data center operations (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a bonus.
